At Azulfit, the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff is our highest priority. We continue to closely monitor the situation and are regularly consulting trusted sources that include the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization, European Government guidelines, amongst others. We are maintaining this page to share information with you. We are closely watching travel restrictions and requirements for travel to Spain.
** Please check with your own local government regarding travel to the Canary Islands, specifically Fuerteventura as they may have quarantine restrictions in place on your return.
The Canary Islands are currently classed as ‘open’ from many European countries and will require a negative COVID Test or vaccine certificate (proof of vaccination) for entry. You can take a test at your airport or local test center up to 48 hours prior to arrival.
Travel to the Canary Islands, specifically Fuerteventura, remains very safe. Note: all travelers must complete an “FCS Health Control Form” at http://spth.gob.es/. A QR code generated from the completed form must be presented upon arrival.
We are very much looking forward to sharing retreat experiences with you again. We are permanently reopened with our weekly operation resumed and have been running retreats safely each week since July 2020. Capacity is limited for your safety. Flexible rebooking is available if you are affected by local travel restrictions.
Please also note that the Canary Islands are offering COVID-19 Travel Assistance, which includes coverage for medical expenses and extension of visit.

Update from our owner
When you are ready to travel, to join together with us to play, learn, laugh and grow… our team will be waiting for you ready to welcome you to our safe, and clean paradise retreat, your home from home.
We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us and joined the Azulfit community through these times. We very much look forward to welcoming and serving you all with gratitude and warmth.
Even though travel has been a much-impacted service globally, it’s heartening to see that there is still a demand to re-energize, restore, and to retreat with us, relying on the quality, care, and certainty that the Azulfit name represents.
Considering this, we want to reassure you that we do not take our responsibility to serve you lightly. Here are some of the areas that we have prioritized in opening our retreat doors to welcome you all.
Since we have our very own retreat center, we are able to control all aspects of your experience from cleaning, sanitation to measures for social distancing, and optimizing your health and wellbeing.”
– Jamie & Karissa, owners & founders, Azulfit
Flexible Booking
We have introduced new options to provide additional travel planning flexibility and security during this time. If you hold a booking with us and any of the following scenarios apply to you:
- You have travel restrictions in place from your home country
- You have had your flight canceled
- You are an essential worker
- You do not feel comfortable traveling at this time
Please simply reach out to us on email, [email protected]. We are offering all guests flexible rebooking through 2021 or vouchers to use when they feel comfortable to travel again. If you wish to contact us to discuss your upcoming booking and options available to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we reply the same day as we know how important you are, and we take this very seriously.
We are also offering fully refundable bookings for additional peace of mind, if you cannot find dates for rebooking or future travel.
Enhanced Safety & Standards
We are uniquely able to establish, monitor, and oversee our own protocols for all aspects of retreat life, and are able to restrict and control any access onto our property and grounds. This helps us to confidently restore and maintain a safe, calm, and relaxing environment.
We have developed site-specific best practice protocols and implemented them into weekly use. We have additional distancing measures and health checks to these protocols to guarantee your safety.
We are committed to making you feel safe and comfortable when you stay with us.
Guest arrival
Prior to arrival, we check in with guests to ensure they are in good health (i.e. asymptomatic) before traveling. On arrival, in addition to our normal warm greeting, we check each guest’s temperature with a no-touch thermometer to ensure your safe arrival. We have also moved all arrival paperwork online so you don’t have to worry about that; you can settle in and decompress.
We will require a negative COVID-19 test, vaccinfile with us at check in. You can email this to us along with a copy of your arrival flight ticket. This is a Canary Islands Mandate and helps us guarantee your safety.
Cleaning
Our cleaning team now devotes more time than before to comprehensively deep clean your room, complying with new guidelines from the WHO. This includes using approved disinfectant products and a more detailed/enhanced protocol for cleaning common surfaces such as doorknobs, handles, countertops, and light switches. Steam cleaning is used on curtains and rugs.
We can also provide cleaning products or items to you on request. Please reach out to us beforehand if you have any allergies so we can carefully prepare your room with the correct protocol, avoiding any irritants or allergens, and also ensure you receive the care and attention you deserve individually.
Food & Dining
Our kitchen team has implemented new safety measures for our food service; with lots of delicious vegan and vegetarian food options. Distanced group dining options are available both indoors and outdoors.
Food can be also be individually plated or served for you to enjoy on your own private room terrace or patio.
In addition, we are running with lower occupancy so we can practice safe distancing, and enjoy our retreat spaces with peace of mind.
Classes & Practice Spaces
We limit the capacity of our group classes to meet standards. Sessions will be held with social distancing in place.
If indoor sessions are necessary, they will run at the correct capacities, with plenty of ventilation. We have a HEPA air filter in our indoor studio space. Personal mats and blankets will be provided for your stay.
We will ask students to not come to classes if they present any symptoms during their stay, including fever, cough and sore throat. This will allow us to care for each individual should any issue arise during the week.
Pool and Hot tub
The swimming pool and hot tub occupancy are reduced; the hot tub occupancy will be for one guest at a time or for guests who have traveled together in the first phase of reopening. We have a third party service that regularly check the pool and hot tub to certify their safety.
We have been maintaining the pool throughout at the levels of Chlorine recommended by the WHO: The World Health Organization recommends a chlorination level of 15mg.min/liter; this is sufficient to kill non-enveloped viruses such as poliovirus, rotavirus, and coxsackievirus, and an enveloped virus such as Covid-19 would be inactivated at even lower levels of chlorination.
